WSOR 4050 & 4051
Title:  WSOR 4050 & 4051
Description:  Sisters 4051 and 4050 make a rare appearance on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus to switch UW's coal-fired power plant. The SD40-2s are the bread and butter of the WSOR and haul their longest trains from the various WSOR hubs to Chicago

Title:  WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Description:  After lining the switch for the main, the WSOR crew on this CSX ballast train coaxes their 50 ballast car off of the back leg of the wye and back up speed (10mph- hold on to your hat!)

WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Title:  WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Description:  The crew of this CSX rock train comes 'round the bend at Junction A on Madison's east side. Here the tracks of the Waterloo sub join those of the Cottage Grove sub for the remainder of the trip back to WSOR's E. Johnson street yard. There will be no trip to the yard for this run-through train.

WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Title:  WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Description:  The WSOR's newest acquisition, recently painted SD40-2 number 4052, leads sister 4051 and a rare find in Madison- CSX motor number 6035. This movement is a CSX-bound ballast train that (until today) uses WSOR hoppers and WSOR power. The train is entering Madison's east side on the Waterloo Sub, just behind East Towne Mall. This used to be the MILW passenger line into Madison from Milwaukee, and will be part of the Chicago-Milwaukee-Twin Cities passenger rail initiative (if it ever happens). This would also be the approximate site of a spur/station for the city of Madison's proposed commuter line. For the time being, this stretch of 10mph track hosts thrice-weekly MABLT locals and CSX rock trains. This scene will look pretty different in ten years (hopefully)...

WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Title:  WSOR 4052, 4051 and CSX 6035
Description:  Crossing the first of several bridges on their way across Lake Monona, the lead engine leans into the curve as this WSOR crew prepares to put Madison behind them. Sure enough- just as the 49th of 50 cars passed by, the sun came out... figures.

Turning Power
Title:  Turning Power
Description:  The power approaches East Washington avenue as they head back to the yard. The switch for Marling Lumber used to be just to the left of the trailing unit, but it has been torn up. There are plans for new development along East Wash along the Yahara River, but they do not include rail service.

WSOR 4005
Title:  WSOR 4005
Description:  The westbound passes one of my favorite places to see trains in the greater Madison area - Festge park between Cross Plains and Black Earth. Train or no train, the lookout is a great place to watch the day's light fade.
