CSX 437 & 4762 on WSOR rails |
Description: |
These two bigguns came into town earlier on the point of a CSXT coal train. They came off the Madison sub, took the Prairie sub at MX crossing in the middle of Monona Bay, and sliced through the University of Wisconsin-Madison area. Some loads were spotted at the SOO Pass (siding behind the Kohl Center, home of the #4-ranked UW-Men's BBall team). Another long cut was likely spotted on the Long John siding along Campus drive. With a handful of covered hoppers in tow, the WSOR J1 crew points the two visitors towards Janesville and (eventually) home rails in Chicago. |

CSX 437 and 4762 visit the WSOR in Madison, WI |
Description: |
I nearly froze my toes off standing in the middle of frozen Monona Bay for more than an hour waiting for this train to come. The golden statue on the top of the Capitol's dome points southwest (towards Washington DC), but today I'll pretend that she's pointing at the visiting behemoths, saying "look- somebody take a picture!". Good thing I was there. |

CSX 437 & 4762 |
Description: |
A closer shot of the two big shots that visited Madison today. WSOR's biggest locos are its SD40-2s, and GP38s and SD20s are the norm in this town. Combine that with the fact that it hasn't been above 10 degrees F in three weeks or so... at a blistering 15 degrees, I was just happy to get this shot! |
